AI Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid role with in-office collaboration required in Santa Monica, California. Applicants must currently reside in the Greater Los Angeles area.

What you will do

• Run technical discovery with customers to understand available data, source systems, access requirements, and delivery methods.
• Design and explain integration approaches, including cloud storage access, vendor uploads, scheduled API pulls, file drops, and authenticated exports.
• Build production code that adapts customer data into Spiral's ingestion contract and deliver changes through pull requests, code review, and CI.
• Provision cloud resources, identity permissions, and secrets using infrastructure as code.
• Configure and operate recurring data orchestration, validate ingestion through logs and metrics, and backfill historical gaps.
• Own post-launch data integrations and collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering to accelerate time-to-first-data.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics with a computing focus, or an equivalent rigorous technical degree.
• Production engineering experience with data pipelines, integrations, or analytics infrastructure; internship, contract, and full-time experience qualify.
• Daily experience with Git, pull requests, substantive code review, log-based debugging, and CI-based delivery.
• Production coding ability in a modern typed or scripting language, strong SQL skills, and experience with a data orchestration, ETL, batch, or stream-processing system.
• Working knowledge of a major cloud provider, including identity and access management, object storage, secrets handling, and cross-organization security.
• Customer-facing technical communication skills and clear asynchronous written communication across multiple time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Temporal or another durable workflow engine.
• OAuth integrations, AWS CDK, Terraform, or columnar analytics databases such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or DuckDB.
• Contact center, CCaaS, or customer experience domain experience.
• Experience building and evaluating LLM pipelines, including prompt design, cost, latency, and transcription tradeoffs.
• Experience as a Forward-Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Implementation Engineer, or Technical Account Manager.
