Research Engineer (AI)

Salary: $225,000–$550,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Train, evaluate, and serve large AI models, including trillion-parameter models on large GPU clusters.
• Optimize inference throughput for novel model architectures and contribute to research and production frameworks.
• Curate post-training datasets to improve targeted model capabilities.
• Build internet-scale data pipelines and crawlers and handle large ETL workloads.
• Design, prototype, and optimize new model architectures and inference-time compute techniques.
• Contribute to research across long-context processing, reinforcement learning, and related areas.

Requirements

• Strong general software engineering skills.
• Thorough knowledge of deep learning literature.
• Experience with pre-training and post-training of large language models.
• Ability to develop and evaluate research ideas.
• Experience with large distributed systems and large-scale ETL workloads.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco or relocate there.
