Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office

Salary: $89K–$196.2K base salary plus equity

Healthcare product company building an AI health coach for people managing chronic conditions and their families.

What you will do

• Own backend features and services end to end, from design and development through production operation.
• Contribute to architecture decisions across AI, agent, product, and data-dependent systems.
• Write high-quality, tested, observable code and improve engineering practices through reviews and pairing.
• Handle health data responsibly, with strong attention to privacy and security.
• Break ambiguous product problems into shippable work and make pragmatic delivery trade-offs.
• Collaborate with product, design, and Data teams to turn requirements into working software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Strong engineering skills across backend services, APIs, and end-to-end feature ownership.
• Experience with testing, deployment, observability, and operating production systems.
• Ability to turn loosely defined problems into shipped solutions and communicate clearly across disciplines.
• Genuine interest in improving healthcare within an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office at least 2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, TypeScript, React, or Flutter.
• Experience with AI/LLM product systems or agents.
• Healthcare data experience or work in another high-trust, regulated domain.
• Mobile development experience or experience connecting mobile clients with backend systems.
• Experience shipping products in an early-stage or fast-moving consumer environment.
