Associate Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Sydney, Australia; hybrid work with an average of 2 days per week from the local hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and deploy AI-powered features with engineers and other data scientists.
• Define and design data-driven solutions for customer and product challenges.
• Build robust data pipelines, LLM-based enrichment processes, and evaluation systems.
• Apply experimentation, metrics definition, evaluation, and monitoring to demonstrate product value.
• Collaborate with engineers, people scientists, and data scientists through knowledge sharing and broader technical discussions.
• Track current research, literature, and provider offerings to support pragmatic product applications.

Requirements

• Experience with classical data science, statistics, model training, and data exploration.
• Experience working with LLMs, including evaluation, metrics, and agentic workflows.
• Comfort with SQL and enterprise databases such as Redshift or Postgres.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries including pandas and numpy.
• Understanding of machine learning models, experimental design, statistical testing, and model validation.
• Formal training in data science, applied machine learning, informatics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or computer science.

Nice to have

• Experience with data visualization tools such as plotly, seaborn, or streamlit.
• Exposure to data modelling and tools such as metaflow or airflow.
• Understanding of version control, continuous deployment, and software testing practices.
