Senior Scientist/Engineer (Advanced Materials)

Location: 100% onsite in Midland, Michigan, United States; travel to Cleveland, Ohio, estimated at 20% annually.

What you will do

• Lead complex research, product development, and commercialization projects.
• Design, conduct, and analyze experiments for new products and processes.
• Develop materials solutions addressing customer needs and business objectives.
• Lead technical workstreams and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transition technologies from concept to commercialization.
• Document research through technical reports, presentations, patent disclosures, and scientific publications.
• Mentor scientists and engineers through coaching, training, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent advanced experience.
• Experience leading research, product development, and commercialization programs.
• Strong expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific problem-solving.
• Ability to lead technical projects, influence cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with liquid metal technologies, metallurgy, or advanced materials development.
• Experience translating research concepts into commercial products.
• Experience leading technical teams or mentoring junior scientists and engineers.
