Material Characterization Scientist (Polymers)
114 000 - 144 000$
Описание вакансии
Текст:
TL;DR
Material Characterization Scientist (Polymers): Developing mechanical and rheological characterization methods and analytical frameworks for polymer systems used in CMP pad materials with an accent on structure–property–performance relationships, reproducible metrology, and product design. Focus on designing DOE-based studies, building predictive models, transferring lab-scale measurements into production, and solving yield and performance issues through quantitative data analysis.
Location: Aurora, Illinois, United States; based at the Aurora facility
Salary: $114,000–$144,000 per year, dependent on skills and experience.
Company
develops materials and solutions for semiconductor manufacturing, including CMP pad materials.
What you will do
- Develop, optimize, and standardize mechanical testing methods for CMP pad materials, including DMA, stress–strain, creep, and oscillatory rheology.
- Establish rheological characterization protocols covering cure kinetics, viscoelastic behavior, and frequency and temperature sweeps.
- Build structure–property–performance relationships and models connecting material properties with CMP performance metrics.
- Design and execute DOE-based studies, develop data analysis workflows and predictive models, and create databases and visualization tools.
- Partner with formulation scientists, process engineers, application teams, manufacturing groups, instrument vendors, and external partners.
- Document findings, contribute to the metrology roadmap, and mentor colleagues in testing, rheology, and data interpretation.
Requirements
- PhD in Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of post-graduate industry experience in polymer structural characterization, mechanical testing, and rheology.
- Hands-on experience with thermal-mechanical testing, rheometers, tensile and fatigue testing, and compression and flexural testing.
- Strong understanding of polymer mechanical and viscoelastic behavior, network formation, crosslinking, formulation, and structure–property relationships.
- Practical experience with Design of Experiments, data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical findings into practical recommendations.
Nice to have
- Experience with thermoset, thermoplastic, elastomeric, or filled polymer systems.
- Knowledge of CMP or semiconductor processes.
Culture & Benefits
- Full-time employment with opportunities for career growth and internal mobility.
- 401(k) plan with employer match.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible work schedule, 11 paid holidays, and paid time off.
- Education assistance and a values-driven culture centered on People, Accountability, Creativity, and Excellence.
