Associate Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States; hybrid work from home and the office

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Prototype and build machine learning solutions for financial crime risk management.
• Analyze large, unstructured datasets with SQL, Python, and PySpark to answer business questions and support modeling.
• Design, write, and maintain ETL pipelines for complex datasets.
• Train statistical and machine learning models, including solutions for customer-specific challenges.
• Implement data science solutions in the production Scala codebase using software engineering best practices.
• Apply large language models to data labeling, structured information extraction, and other data science tasks.

Requirements

• MS degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least one year of professional industry experience in addition to academic experience.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, probability, machine learning, hypothesis testing, inference, regularization, and dimensionality reduction.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised methods such as regression, classification, clustering, random forests, boosting, and neural networks.
• Strong Python programming skills plus Scala, Java, or R; experience with SQL and/or Spark.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithm complexity, and quantitative communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Applied NLP experience with topic modeling, text classification, word embeddings, or named entity extraction.
