Head of Infrastructure (AI)

Location: Vancouver, Canada; hybrid. The role allows working anywhere in the world for up to 60 calendar days per year.

Base pay: $170,000–$210,000 per year, dependent on experience, plus employee stock options.

What you will do

• Lead the team responsible for cloud infrastructure, DevOps/DevEx, security, and compliance.
• Build and deliver a multi-quarter roadmap focused on operational excellence, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop efficient engineering processes and maintain high standards for mission-critical services.
• Hire, coach, mentor, and train software engineers while improving team health and capabilities.
• Provide technical expertise to internal engineering teams, customers, and company leadership during vendor assessments and procurement processes.
• Contribute to engineering leadership, organizational alignment, infrastructure cost management, and security risk management.

Requirements

• More than 8 years of professional engineering experience, including at least 5 years delivering mission-critical software.
• Over 4 years of engineering team management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code, database management, service meshes, security operations, IAM, test environments, SRE, and SOC 2 compliance.
• Experience deploying and operating B2B enterprise software at scale.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams.
• Strong software development best practices and effective communication in ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Startup experience.
• Exceptional Python proficiency and experience developing complex solutions.
• Experience communicating with senior leadership about infrastructure costs, shared capabilities, and security risks.
• Experience implementing AI-driven development environments.
