TL;DR

What you will do
- Operate high-temperature industrial 3D printers and develop expert-level knowledge of their operation.
- Study polymer extrusion behavior, including die swell, viscoelasticity, layer welding, and crystallinity formation.
- Design and run experiments to quantify the phenomena that drive print quality.
- Work with software engineers to convert validated hypotheses into process-control software.
- Develop testing workflows, evaluate software improvements, and scale validated methods across supported materials.
- Help train technicians to expand experimentation across the target material range.
Requirements
- Masterβs or PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of polymer behavior during extrusion processing.
- Theoretical knowledge of polymer rheology, extrusion processing, and thermodynamics.
- Experience with 3D printing, preferably FFF/FDM.
- Experience with high-temperature performance polymers such as Ultem 9085, Ultem 1010, PEEK, or PEKK-A.
- Scientific experience using experimental methods and statistical models based on self-collected datasets.
