Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid

Salary: £110,000–£150,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own architecture and technical design across the customer-facing web application, agentic platform, and shared infrastructure.
• Design and build parent and specialist agents around hirify.global’s compensation data.
• Develop durable multi-step workflows using Temporal and an MCP-based tool layer.
• Build and maintain evaluation infrastructure for consistency, including golden queries and LLM-as-judge workflows.
• Lead technical decisions, code reviews, and design reviews while solving complex reliability, performance, and cost challenges.
• Work hands-on across a distributed monorepo with multiple deployable services.

Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial software engineering experience and a track record of technical leadership during platform shifts.
• Strong system design skills covering failure tolerance, consistency, multi-service orchestration, data platforms, scalability, observability, and operations.
• Senior-level TypeScript and Node proficiency, with backend experience in PostgreSQL, GraphQL or HTTP APIs, and GCP infrastructure.
• Experience owning code in a distributed monorepo with multiple deployable services.
• Ability to ship quickly while maintaining code quality and technical rigor.

Nice to have

• Production experience with agentic systems, tool calling, multi-step orchestration, or LLM evaluations.
• Experience with workflow engines such as Temporal, Cadence, or Step Functions.
• Experience with MCP, Anthropic SDK, LLM platforms, developer platforms, internal SDKs, or framework-shaped surfaces.
• Experience with eval-driven development, prompt engineering at scale, or LLM-judge harnesses.
• React or another modern frontend framework.
