Lead Android Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Durham, United States; candidates must be local to the posting location.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and execution of full-stack features for campaign management, reporting, audience and asset tooling, and marketplace optimization.
• Set technical direction across a polyglot stack, moving complex computation, data modeling, and algorithms into scalable backend services.
• Design and integrate robust APIs that unify products across the platform.
• Own service reliability standards covering testing, observability, performance, and on-call operations.
• Partner with product leads and stakeholders on roadmaps, architecture, scoping, and estimation.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, drive automation, and establish architectural best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience architecting and shipping production platforms, with strong backend architecture, system design, and code optimization experience.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures, including experience solving complex data-processing or resource-optimization problems.
• Professional capability across multiple ecosystems, such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, Scala, or C++.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, backend service design, and relational or distributed data stores such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Strong foundations in API design, data modeling, testing methodology, and large-scale system design.
• Ability to work autonomously, lead technical decisions, and operate effectively in an ownership-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS or GCP, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in AdTech, dashboards and BI surfaces, or high-throughput data-driven products.
• Experience integrating ML or data services into live product workflows.
