Technical Specialist - Pensions (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, 3 days a week in Manchester or Leeds, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Act as the company-wide subject matter expert on pensions, including drawdown and transfers.
• Interpret pension legislation and regulations and assess their impact on the SIPP proposition and operations.
• Oversee operational processes from a technical perspective and serve as an escalation point for complex pension queries.
• Liaise with HMRC and communicate regulatory and business changes across the company.
• Partner with the Pensions Product team to improve the platform offering and maintain a competitive proposition.
• Support operational managers with procedure, working-practice, and governance changes.

Requirements

• Proven technical experience in the pensions industry, particularly with SIPP products.
• Knowledge of pension rules, benefit calculations including transitional calculations, pension transfers, HMRC processes, reporting, and income tax.
• Knowledge of the financial services environment and regulatory landscape.
• Ability to explain complex pension topics clearly at all levels and build strong working relationships.
• Experience working in a customer-centric, platform-based environment.
• Clear communication, teamwork, ownership, decisiveness, and willingness to share technical knowledge.

Nice to have

• Experience in process improvement.
• Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
• Formal CII or PMI qualifications.
