Fullstack Web Developer (Geospatial)

Location: Hybrid in Montreal or Ottawa, Canada

What you will do

• Develop tools and application features for processing emission-related data.
• Build, integrate, and support frontend and backend services, databases, data transformation frameworks, and REST APIs.
• Deliver features from wireframes and system requirements through testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Optimize data structures, schemas, and queries for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, QA, and product stakeholders to evolve system architecture and identify new features.
• Maintain high availability of the data processing platform and participate in a shared on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Strong computational science or software development skills with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, React, Node, Tailwind CSS, HTML5, and REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS services including EKS, ECR, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases, Git, Docker, and cloud-native service design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program. Availability for scheduled on-call support, including occasional weekends, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenLayers, WebGL, and web-based geospatial visualization.
• Experience with GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, and raster/vector remote sensing data.
• Interest in scientific analysis, atmospheric sciences, remote sensing, or space technology.
