Staff Chemical Engineer

Location: McCarran, Nevada, United States; onsite in an office and industrial/manufacturing facility environment

hirify.global is building a localized battery supply chain through battery recovery, reuse, recycling, and production of battery materials in the United States.

What you will do

• Design first-of-a-kind recycling plants for battery waste materials from concept through detailed engineering and commissioning.
• Lead brownfield plant retrofits and process improvement projects from scoping and financial justification through implementation.
• Perform cost analyses, design trade studies, process modeling, and equipment sizing to predict plant performance and improve profitability.
• Create Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and detailed equipment specification sheets.
• Plan and execute lab-scale trials, critical testwork, and plant trials to validate process designs and support scale-up.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, operations, maintenance, and software teams to deliver complete plant designs and safe commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of chemical or process engineering experience delivering plant, equipment, or product designs.
• Experience designing flowsheets and equipment for large capital projects, including pilot-to-commercial scale-up.
• Hands-on expertise in process modeling, equipment sizing, and connecting testwork data to full-scale implementation.
• Experience partnering with operations and maintenance teams on safe plant improvement projects.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis and metallurgical accounting tools, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.
