Postdoctoral Clinical Research Scientist (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid

Salary: $65,000–$80,000 per year, plus meaningful equity ownership

What you will do

• Design, run, and analyze clinical studies of AI-based mental health tools, including randomized controlled trials, observational studies, product-embedded experiments, and HEOR studies.
• Build and validate evaluation methods for conversational AI quality and safety, including LLM-as-judge frameworks assessing clinical fidelity, empathy, and risk.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and represent research at conferences.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, engineering, machine learning, legal, and policy teams to turn findings into product improvements.
• Define sharper measurements, outcomes, and evidence requirements for an AI mental health product that ships frequently.

Requirements

• PhD in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
• Strong experience designing and executing clinical research.
• Grounding in research methodology, language data analysis, psychometrics, and statistical analysis using R, Python, or similar tools.
• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Familiarity with evidence-based psychotherapy frameworks and clinical outcome measurement.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in New York City.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital health, telehealth, or AI/ML applications in clinical care.
• Interest in pursuing psychology licensure in New York.
