Launch System Integration Engineer (Aerospace): Leading launch vehicle integration for space vehicles, including launch requirements, verification and validation, range safety compliance, and coordination with customers and launch providers with an accent on payload integration and launch campaign execution. Focus on developing assembly, integration, and test procedures, coordinating hardware test campaigns, and ensuring compliance with SSCMAN 91-710 and MSPSP requirements.

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite role with up to 25% travel to launch sites

Salary: $105,000–$135,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Lead launch segment activities for assigned space vehicle programs, including separation-system requirements, hardware packaging, shipping, unpacking, and launch integration planning.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for launch activities across internal disciplines, customers, and launch providers.
  • Coordinate and conduct test campaigns for space vehicles and launch-related hardware.
  • Write and execute assembly, integration, and test procedures for launch integration campaigns.
  • Collaborate with design and tooling engineers on assembly, integration, and checkout tooling.
  • Coordinate with program, engineering, and operations teams to meet launch requirements and milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in aerospace, mechanical, systems engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Hands-on payload or launch integration experience, or experience with large structural and electrical assembly.
  • Experience with SSCMAN 91-710 compliance and MSPSP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, external customers, and launch suppliers.
  • U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. work authorization is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SolidWorks, JAMA, or Valispace.
  • Experience with spacecraft propellant systems, MGSE for structures handling, or space vehicle separation systems.
  • Familiarity with GEVS or SMC-S-16 testing requirements.
