Senior IP Counsel (AI)

What you will do

• Lead and refine patent strategy in alignment with innovation priorities and filing decisions.
• Identify patentable inventions with engineering, R&D, data science, and product teams.
• Oversee outside counsel in drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications.
• Build and manage patent portfolios covering AI, machine learning, and advanced software platforms.
• Lead intellectual property litigation and disputes.
• Advise on AI governance, data usage, algorithmic risk, model audits, safety evaluations, and compliant product integration.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor or equivalent and admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• 7–15+ years of legal experience focused substantially on AI technology, patent prosecution, and patent portfolio strategy.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and international patent laws, AI-related legal frameworks, and emerging global regulations.
• Experience advising on AI/ML compliance or responsible technology frameworks.
• Experience handling patents, trade secrets, copyrights, open-source software, software licensing, and related litigation.

• Deep experience evaluating patentability, responding to office actions, and managing global patent filings.
• Experience translating complex technical innovations into protectable intellectual property.
• Experience counseling leadership in a large, matrixed organization.
