What you will do
- Lead and directly manage the engineers and technicians responsible for shot operations and maintenance.
- Build and scale staffing models, shift structures, career paths, and a high-performing operations organization.
- Serve as program leader for Phoenix operations, owning scope, schedule, budget, operational metrics, maintenance campaigns, and upgrade projects.
- Develop and govern standard operating procedures, operating limits, readiness processes, maintenance requirements, and spares planning.
- Lead program reviews, planning meetings, cross-functional alignment, risk mitigation, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Capture operational lessons learned and provide structured feedback to design teams to improve the operability and maintainability of future laser systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience leading operations for complex, high-energy, or safety-critical technical systems.
- Proven program leadership with ownership of schedules, budgets, and delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing technical teams.
- Experience implementing process discipline, operational metrics, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with laser systems, pulsed power systems, or large-scale experimental facilities.
- Background in test operations, commissioning, or high-throughput experimental environments.
- Experience scaling operations in a rapidly evolving or startup environment.
- Familiarity with automation, controls systems, and reliability engineering practices.
