TL;DR
Network Engineer II (IP) (Telecommunications/IP Networks): Designing, implementing, and supporting high-availability IP/MPLS, carrier Ethernet, and telecommunications network infrastructure with an accent on redundancy, scalability, security, and capacity planning. Focus on troubleshooting outages, optimizing network performance, managing escalations, and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States; remote eligible with restrictions

What you will do
- Design, implement, and support high-availability network and system infrastructure.
- Support IP/MPLS core networks, carrier Ethernet transport, cellular data core systems, and video transmission services.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot outages, schedule updates, and collaborate with architects on optimization.
- Audit and forecast capacity, bandwidth, hardware, software licensing, and hosted devices.
- Coordinate with project management and engineering teams, manage escalations, and provide project reporting.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians and maintain technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least four years of progressive engineering experience in information technology, development, and engineering within telecommunications or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technologies, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field; relevant experience or education may substitute year for year.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications operations, engineering functions, applicable codes, and standards.
- Ability to work assigned shifts and provide occasional after-hours, weekend, holiday, or emergency support.
- Reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between offices, worksites, and retail locations.
Nice to have
- Telecommunications industry experience.
- Industry-specific certifications such as CCNA, NRS, JNCIA, or related credentials.
