Member of Technical Staff, Security Engineering

Location: Bay Area, United States; in-office

Annual base salary: $200,000–$350,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build the security foundation for the enterprise AI platform and customer-facing APIs.
• Design enterprise security architecture, threat models, cloud controls, VPCs, network isolation, and access controls.
• Drive product and API security, secure infrastructure, automation, and internal security tooling.
• Lead SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, privacy, and enterprise security readiness.
• Establish secure development, code review, release management, vulnerability management, monitoring, and incident response practices.
• Partner with backend, platform, infrastructure, and developer tooling teams while remaining hands-on and writing production code.

Requirements

• 6+ years of security engineering experience or equivalent staff-level depth, including TL/TLM or staff-plus experience.
• Experience securing enterprise-facing products, APIs, infrastructure, or compliance-heavy environments.
• Hands-on product/API security experience and ownership of SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or comparable programs.
• Experience with identity and access management, encryption, cloud security, mTLS, policy systems, or security services.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with modern software development, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure as code, and AWS or Azure.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience as an early or founding security engineer at a startup or fast-growing organization.
• Background in backend, platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering.
• Experience with security tooling, developer platforms, monitoring, observability, vulnerability management, or incident response.
• Experience securing AI/ML infrastructure, GPU workloads, inference pipelines, serving APIs, or large-scale cloud environments.
