Lead, Spacecraft Mechanisms

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead responsible engineers working on deployable structures, actuators, solar modules, separation systems, and other spacecraft mechanisms.
• Define the spacecraft mechanisms product roadmap with partner teams, leadership, and business development.
• Architect and implement engineering processes for mechanism development, testing, production ramp, and sustainment.
• Create and execute spacecraft mechanism test campaigns.
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to deliver reliable components for flight vehicles.
• Own the technical development of a spacecraft mechanism while contributing as an individual engineer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing, testing, and flying spacecraft mechanisms.
• Strong technical knowledge of one or more spacecraft mechanism types.
• Professional experience managing and growing an engineering team.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an applicable U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in lead roles focused on spacecraft mechanism design and development.
• Ownership of a mechanism across conceptualization, system trades, design, analysis, testing, build, integration, and flight operations.
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
