Electro-Optic Systems Architect (AI Photonics): Modeling and validating Passage’s electrical-optical-electrical links with an accent on photonics-analog simulation, RF experimentation, and cross-disciplinary device co-design. Focus on designing high-speed RF experiments, analyzing simulation and prototype data, and authoring architectural specifications for extreme-scale AI computing infrastructure.

Location: Boston, MA or Mountain View, CA, United States; flexible hybrid workplace model.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 USD annually, plus equity and other compensation.

What you will do

  • Model Passage’s electrical-optical-electrical links using Cadence photonics-analog simulators, VPI Photonics, and Keysight ADS.
  • Co-design analog and photonic devices with cross-disciplinary engineering teams using end-to-end simulation results.
  • Design high-speed RF experiments and conduct proof-of-concept experiments to validate system models.
  • Analyze existing measurement data and prototype results.
  • Author, review, and validate architectural specifications.

Requirements

  • PhD in electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, photonics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with Virtuoso, Spectre, Verilog-A, Ansys HFSS, and Keysight ADS.
  • Advanced simulation coding skills in Python or Matlab.
  • Advanced RF/mm-wave analog circuit design skills.
  • Experience with corner analysis and Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and solve problems without obvious solutions.

Nice to have

  • Silicon photonic integrated circuit design and testing experience.
  • Knowledge of signal processing and signal integrity in optical communications.
  • Knowledge of SERDES and mixed-signal interfaces.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
