TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer I – Assembly, Integration and Test (Aerospace): Engineering and delivering assembly, integration, and test processes for complex spacecraft with an accent on manufacturability, production ramp-up, and cross-functional technical problem solving. Focus on diagnosing failures, improving yield and build efficiency, and validating manufacturing and environmental test processes.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base pay: $115,000–$170,000 USD annually for California.

What you will do

  • Prepare manufacturing feasibility studies and lead manufacturing technology research and development projects.
  • Partner with design engineering to apply design-for-manufacture principles and improve product manufacturability at scale.
  • Design, procure, install, validate, and verify assembly and test processes for production facilities.
  • Support development builds, resolve production issues, and accelerate production ramp-up.
  • Own production lines, remove blockers, improve yield, and increase build efficiency.
  • Investigate failures, identify root causes, implement risk mitigation, and drive process improvements across manufacturing, integration, and testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience focused on assembly, integration, and testing of complex systems for Senior Manufacturing Engineer I; 8+ years for Level II.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment used in assembly and integration.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA, and with PLM systems.
  • For U.S. office work, candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
  • Aerospace experience with launch vehicles or spacecraft.
  • Experience with composite materials, manufacturing automation, robotics, or environmental testing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and strong problem-solving skills.
