Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Perform admitting and preregistration duties for hospital patients.
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers, process physician orders, and complete medical necessity and compliance checks.
  • Collect demographic, insurance, and financial information, including point-of-service and past-due payments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, and enter benefit data to support billing and clean claims.
  • Explain and distribute consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient education forms.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard, conduct account audits, and report data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work onsite at HSHS- St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, Illinois.
  • Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
  • HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
