Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer (Embedded Linux)

hirify.global builds a software platform for AI-powered autonomous robotic systems used by enterprise and government customers, including drone fleets.

What you will do

• Develop features, fix bugs, write tests, and optimize software components running on hirify.globalOS, a custom embedded Linux distribution.
• Work within the Board Support team to add support for new peripherals, maintain system services, and improve embedded platform performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand internal and customer use cases and propose software solutions.
• Provide expert L3 technical support to customers and document solutions for internal and public knowledge bases.
• Participate in stand-ups, release planning, and sprint task prioritization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience with object-oriented C++ and/or Python.
• Extensive experience with embedded architectures, cross-compilation, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Expert Linux knowledge, including the kernel, command-line operations, resource management, system services, networking, device drivers, device trees, and U-Boot.
• Experience with Debian/Ubuntu systems, Debian packaging, Docker environments, and OTA updates.
• Knowledge of networking, network diagnostics, embedded security, secure boot, encryption, SSL/TLS, VPNs, and hardware interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus.

Nice to have

• Experience with video streaming, MIPI CSI drivers, NVIDIA Jetson, or NXP iMX8 platforms and BSP packages.
• Open-source contributions in the Linux ecosystem.
• Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
