Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Location: United States — Remote

Salary: $240,000–$290,000 base salary per year plus equity

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, iterate, and deploy secure production systems across cloud-native and edge appliance environments.
• Architect, build, and operate infrastructure across Kubernetes clusters, government and commercial clouds, application streaming, data platforms, and air-gapped sites.
• Own infrastructure outcomes for critical programs and priority initiatives from design through production operation.
• Embed with Product, Engineering, GRC, and mission teams to advise on infrastructure, security, and deployment practices.
• Harden the artifact pipeline so signed builds can run consistently across cloud, high-side, and disconnected appliance deployments.
• Support STIGs, CVE remediation, audit preparation, and controls for IL5, IL6, and JWICS environments.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience operating production infrastructure in DevOps, DevSecOps, Platform, SRE, Cloud, or Infrastructure roles.
• Deep production Kubernetes experience, including operators, networking, storage, and multi-cluster operations.
• Expertise with major cloud providers such as AWS and Azure, including multi-provider and multi-profile architecture.
• Strong application and infrastructure security fundamentals covering identity, network segmentation, secrets management, and vulnerability classes.
• Production experience with a modern backend language such as Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript, plus the ability to work across existing codebases.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance and work from the United States.

Nice to have

• Active US SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance.
• AWS GovCloud or Azure Government experience.
• Exposure to FedRAMP, IL4/IL5, IL6, or JWICS environments.
• Audit experience, including FedRAMP or SOC 2, and experience with big data or distributed data systems.
• Experience supporting defense, intelligence, or other regulated industries.
