Founding Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; on-site

Compensation: $150K–$275K per year plus equity

What you will do

• Embed with customers to build custom integrations, data pipelines, and production workflows in their environments.
• Understand evolving customer needs, scope solutions, and ship new workflows from the ground up.
• Debug and optimize retrieval quality, LLM performance, and data ingestion in live production environments.
• Partner with AI Deployment Managers to drive adoption and unlock new use cases.
• Surface platform gaps, work with engineering and product on what should be productized, and build fixes when needed.
• Turn customer-specific integrations and patterns into scalable platform capabilities and engagement playbooks.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years of experience as a software engineer or in a technical customer-facing role such as FDE, solutions engineer or architect, or implementation engineer.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to work across the stack and handle messy real-world data including PDFs and Excel models.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including RAG, embeddings, LLMs, and retrieval systems; model training is not required.
• Strong customer focus, high agency, and a builder’s mindset for solving problems directly in customer environments.
• Strong communication skills for translating customer pain into engineering priorities and explaining complex systems to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with financial services is a plus, particularly investor workflows, due diligence, and data accuracy.
