Equipment Sourcing Engineer

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days per week in the office and 1 day from home

Salary: $106,400–$149,000 per year

Company

Develops the Xe-100 high-temperature gas-cooled reactor and the equipment and supplier network required to support its deployment.

What you will do

• Identify, develop, and qualify equipment and service suppliers for first-of-a-kind reactor equipment and components.
• Develop strategic and project-specific supply chain execution plans aligned with schedule, cost, and regional localization goals.
• Prepare category plans, analyze spend and supplier risks, and implement negotiation and risk-mitigation strategies.
• Negotiate supplier contracts covering costs, schedules, terms and conditions, and technical requirements.
• Manage equipment and service contracts, monitor supplier performance, and resolve delivery or performance issues.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, suppliers, and customers on specifications, quality requirements, and contracting strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; an MBA with a technical background is preferred.
• Typically 10 years of experience in a supply chain role.
• Experience developing scopes of work, technical and quality procurement requirements, project plans, schedules, and costing models.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing equipment or service contracts.
• Experience in the nuclear industry or another highly regulated industry.
• Technical knowledge of the manufacture, operation, and maintenance of typical power plant components.

Nice to have

• MBA combined with an engineering or technical background.
