Location: Berkeley and Menlo Park, United States; the role is based in the Berkeley Nanolab cleanroom

Annual salary: $90,000–$150,000 USD

What you will do

  • Execute micro- and nanofabrication process flows in the Berkeley Nanolab cleanroom.
  • Operate photolithography, thin-film deposition, dry and wet etching, metrology, and inspection equipment.
  • Support process development, optimization, repeatability, and continuous improvement for device fabrication.
  • Maintain fabrication logs, travelers, and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate process or tool issues affecting device yield.
  • Coordinate with Nanolab staff on tool access, maintenance, scheduling, safety, chemical handling, and cleanroom protocols.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a fabrication technician or early-career process engineering background.
  • Ability to work with micro- and nanofabrication processes in a shared-user cleanroom.
  • Experience or familiarity with photolithography, deposition, etching, metrology, and inspection tools.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-conscious approach to fabrication and documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues and communicate findings.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Berkeley Nanolab cleanroom.

Nice to have

  • Interest in taking ownership of process modules or device steps.
  • Experience participating in process integration discussions and experimental planning.
  • Ability to analyze yield, variability, and failure modes.
