Thermal Engineer (Senior)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office

Salary: $150,000–$195,000 annual base salary, excluding additional benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain spacecraft-level thermal models using Ansys Thermal Desktop.
• Evaluate and validate thermal analysis results against mission requirements.
• Identify ways to reduce the cost and complexity of legacy thermal subsystems.
• Plan and execute thermal subsystem milestone reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and MRR.
• Oversee thermal flight hardware integration, build quality, and component- and system-level thermal vacuum testing.
• Correlate test and flight data with thermal models and collaborate with mechanical, systems, and avionics teams.

Requirements

• U.S. Persons status is required to access export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of thermal engineering experience, preferably with spacecraft or aerospace systems.
• Proficiency with Ansys Thermal Desktop, Siemens NX, and Teamcenter.
• Strong understanding of spacecraft thermal control systems, thermal margins, and MIL-STD or Aerospace TOR requirements.
• Experience with thermal vacuum testing, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, two-phase thermal control systems, and thermal model correlation.
