TL;DR

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $180,000–$258,750 per year for Massachusetts-based roles, with an annual cash bonus structure

What you will do

  • Build useful robots and general-purpose robot foundation models with a cross-functional research team.
  • Implement and create state-of-the-art methods for robot behavior learning from interactive embodied data and online data sources.
  • Design high-performance machine-learning pipelines and optimize data and learning stacks for scalability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Develop internal robotics capabilities and contribute to high-impact external research publications.
  • Collaborate with internal research scientists and partner laboratories at MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, CMU, Columbia, and Princeton.

Requirements

  • PhD in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience training large models and deploying them on embodied systems, particularly for robotic manipulation.
  • Strong Python development skills and familiarity with mixed C++/Python codebases.
  • Extensive practical machine-learning experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, including data pipelines, model serving, optimization, cloud training, and dataset management.
  • Strong understanding of robot learning, including generative models, reinforcement learning, and/or world models.
  • Practical experience with physical robots, system integration, and research deployment on hardware platforms.

Nice to have

  • Industry experience in robotics and machine-learning research.
  • Experience with ROS 2, communication protocols, modern ML infrastructure, or VR-based teleoperation.
  • Knowledge of motion control, whole-body control, robotic simulation, visual perception, depth sensors, force and tactile sensing, or haptic interfaces.
