Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Motion Planning (Autonomous Trucking)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; hybrid

Salary: $130,000–$220,000 per year, including cash and equity compensation.

What you will do

• Develop deep learning models for motion planning using map data and perception sensor outputs.
• Design safety checks that ensure driving trajectories are feasible and comply with road rules.
• Train and deploy ML-based planning algorithms with a focus on real-time performance in compute-constrained environments.
• Track and incorporate multidisciplinary research advances into the planning stack.
• Follow Quality Management System requirements and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Ensure technical work meets customer requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality policies.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in software, robotics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of machine learning engineering experience in robotics applications.
• Experience developing high-quality software from design and implementation through testing and deployment.
• Expertise with Python and willingness to contribute to C++ development.
• Experience training models with modern frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Strong experimental methodology, cloud data ingestion pipeline familiarity, and communication skills.
