Lead Machine Learning Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Salary: $220,000–$270,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, train, and evaluate state-of-the-art models for autonomous driving, simulation, and the ML platform.
• Apply end-to-end driving, Vision Language Action, world model, and foundation model techniques to commercial-scale problems.
• Define data balancing, training experiment, and evaluation practices for efficient petabyte-scale model development.
• Analyze and address long-tail failure cases in large machine learning models.
• Lead a small cross-functional group of 2–3 engineers and communicate technical details to interdisciplinary leadership.

Requirements

• Extensive practical experience with Vision Language Action Models, Generative World Models, Foundation Models in Robotics, or Data-Centric AI.
• At least 4 years of industry experience working on commercial robotics systems.
• At least 1 year of mentoring machine learning engineers in a commercial or laboratory environment.
• Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a comparable mathematically or engineering-focused field.
• Strong Python and PyTorch programming skills in a Linux environment, plus practical experience with long-tail machine learning problems.
• Functional understanding of LiDAR, camera, and radar processing techniques.

Nice to have

• PhD and/or published research in the relevant specialty domains.
• Familiarity with common post-training techniques.
• Experience deploying models to resource-constrained edge hardware.
• Understanding of C, C++, or CUDA memory and threading models.
