Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Physical AI)

Location: Redwood City, United States; on-site

Salary: $170,000–$225,000 annually, plus potential equity, benefits, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Design and implement machine learning solutions across perception, decision-making, action scoring, and predictive modeling for robotics.
• Own the full ML development cycle, including data curation, labeling, training, evaluation, deployment, and iteration.
• Build scalable, production-ready training and inference pipelines with PyTorch.
• Integrate ML into real-time, latency-sensitive robotic systems with robotics, data platform, and simulation teams.
• Optimize model performance and reliability through profiling, monitoring, and experimentation.
• Establish reproducible, traceable, and modular practices for model versioning, dataset management, and ML operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, plus 5+ years of industry experience applying machine learning to production systems.
• Strong Python skills and deep experience with PyTorch.
• Experience across classification, regression, ranking, segmentation, and structured prediction.
• Strong engineering skills in profiling, debugging, and optimizing model and pipeline performance.
• Experience designing and maintaining reliable systems from model training through field deployment.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker; Linux; Git; CI/CD; and software testing practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or real-time ML applications.
• Experience with multimodal data, including RGBD, force-torque signals, pose estimates, telemetry, or human input.
• Experience with NVIDIA Triton, TorchServe, or custom low-latency model-serving frameworks.
• Background in computer vision, geometric learning, time-series modeling, Kubernetes, Ray, or distributed training and inference.
• Startup experience or experience in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environments.
