Staff Platform Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain the Altos Agentic AI Platform for scientific applications.
• Build and operate resilient production-grade Kubernetes clusters and dynamic node-level autoscaling for compute-heavy and streaming workloads.
• Implement authentication, authorization, network security controls, service mesh capabilities, mutual TLS, circuit breaking, and observable service-to-service communication.
• Develop and maintain high-performance MCP and LLM proxies supporting hundreds of agentic tools.
• Improve system performance, reliability, automation, testing, continuous delivery, documentation, and resource utilization.
• Partner with scientists, software engineers, researchers, and IT teams to develop secure, scalable systems and improve cloud and AI financial operations.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science, a related quantitative field, or equivalent technical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, or systems-focused platform software engineering, including 3+ years designing microservices and operating production-grade Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Deep experience with AWS cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code practices such as Terraform or CDK, and orchestration using Python, Ruby, or Bash.
• 2+ years of experience using AI-assisted software development methods and experience prototyping agentic AI concepts, including identity and memory management.
• Experience building infrastructure for GenAI/LLM systems, AI agents, and high-volume event-driven workloads.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, FinOps, secure scalable systems, and communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.

• Experience building platforms for software, data, and machine learning engineers.
• Experience mentoring junior software engineers.
• Experience writing automated tests across different levels of the test pyramid.
