Lead Software Engineer, Data Platform (Robotics)

Location: New York City, hybrid with 3+ days per week in the office

Salary: $220,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of 5+ engineers through planning, delivery, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Write and ship features across backend infrastructure, data platforms, APIs, and user interfaces.
• Own the end-to-end data pipeline architecture from devices to the cloud, including storage, querying, and platform APIs.
• Drive the reliability and performance of ML training and inference infrastructure, including custom workflows, auto-labeling, and model evaluation services.
• Shape product and technical decisions and resolve cross-team problems with Computer Vision, Fleet Management, Mobile, and Solutions Engineering.

Requirements

• Experience leading engineering teams through hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Experience building and scaling backend, platform, or infrastructure systems in production.
• Experience shipping products across APIs, backend services, and user interfaces.
• Strong architectural judgment and experience balancing scale, reliability, and performance.
• Experience with distributed systems, data-intensive systems, streaming pipelines, platform infrastructure, or ML infrastructure.
• Hands-on development experience with Go and Python; the platform also uses Svelte, TensorFlow, TFLite, ONNX, MongoDB Atlas, GCP, and Azure.
