Location: Seattle, WA (Greater Seattle Area); strong onsite collaboration is expected at AIM offices, labs, and testing grounds

What you will do
- Architect and build the frontend design system, including component direction, accessibility, theming, versioning, migration tooling, and developer experience.
- Develop the safety-critical Operator UI for autonomous bulldozers, loaders, and excavators.
- Implement live 3D scenes with Three.js, React Three Fiber, and Drei, including point clouds, geofences, and machine overlays.
- Build teleoperation controls, integrate live video streaming, and design observable state-machine-driven flows.
- Shape a multi-tenant SaaS administration portal with authorization, internationalization, real-time data, and customer-facing B2B experiences.
- Lead code and design reviews, architectural discussions, and collaboration with field deployment engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design, HCI, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production frontend systems.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and React, including hooks, Suspense, and concurrent rendering.
- Experience with frontend tooling such as Vite, npm or pnpm workspaces, Storybook, Vitest, Cypress, and Testing Library.
- Strong debugging skills using browser developer tools, logs, telemetry, and tracing.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality software independently and across teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D web graphics, WebGL, or point-cloud rendering.
- Experience with real-time data and binary serialization, including Protocol Buffers, gRPC-web, or WebSockets.
- Exposure to safety-critical or industrial interfaces in robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, or defense.
- Experience with XState, TanStack Router or Query, Zustand, Tailwind CSS, Floating UI, or multi-tenant SaaS authorization.
