Company

Develops AI, robotics, autonomous driving, and material science technologies to improve the quality of human life and advance mobility.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with research scientists to implement, iterate on, and evaluate architectures, objectives, datasets, and training strategies.
  • Translate research prototypes into clean, maintainable, reusable code for TRI teams and the Toyota ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, converting, validating, and serving heterogeneous multimodal datasets for robotics and autonomous driving.
  • Support and optimize distributed training of world foundation models on multi-GPU and multi-node clusters, including profiling, debugging, and hyperparameter sweeps.
  • Develop tools for dataset inspection, experiment tracking, model evaluation, GPU resource management, visualization, and workflow automation.
  • Coordinate shared pipelines, data onboarding, joint training, and evaluation with TRI divisions, Toyota affiliates, and external research partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong software engineering skills with deep proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and the Unix/Linux toolchain.
  • Experience with large-scale deep learning, distributed training such as DDP, FSDP, or DeepSpeed, GPU profiling, and debugging failures at scale.
  • Experience building pipelines for heterogeneous or multimodal data including images, video, depth, point clouds, and actions.
  • Experience with video diffusion models, 3D/4D reconstruction, and multi-view geometry.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Los Altos, California. Proactive communication, self-direction, and end-to-end ownership are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AWS SageMaker, EC2, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with ROS, MCAP, HDF5, simulation environments, and data collection pipelines.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
  • Open-source contributions or publications at venues such as CVPR, ICLR, NeurIPS, RSS, or ICRA.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work alongside research scientists and collaborate across robotics, automated driving, and human-interactive driving divisions.
  • Engage with Toyota affiliates, university partners, and the broader scientific community.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) eligibility, paid vacation, sick time, and parental leave.
  • Annual cash bonus structure.

Hiring process

  • Include links to relevant open-source contributions or technical project write-ups with the application.
