Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Recommendation & AI Applications)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Annual base pay range: $195,000–$230,000 USD, with potential discretionary bonus and options.

What you will do

• Design, build, and improve high-throughput, low-latency recommendation systems for core feeds.
• Develop retrieval, ranking, embeddings, user and item modeling, and multi-objective optimization.
• Own the machine learning lifecycle from offline training and online inference through A/B experimentation and metric analysis.
• Apply LLMs and foundation models to content understanding, user intent modeling, and feature generation.
• Identify and resolve production issues involving data quality, model drift, and system performance.
• Prototype 0–1 AI-powered products and move successful concepts from exploration to MVP and production.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience building machine learning or recommendation systems in production.
• Strong understanding of recommendation system fundamentals, including ranking, embeddings, user/item modeling, and experimentation.
• Strong coding skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and large-scale data and ML systems such as Spark, distributed training, or real-time inference.
• Ability to own features end-to-end and deliver measurable business impact.

Nice to have

• Production experience applying AI or LLMs to recommendation systems.
• Experience contributing to 0–1 AI or ML-driven products.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
