What you will do
- Design, implement, and extend workflows for characterising fusion plasma performance.
- Build lightweight integrated models and high-fidelity HPC simulations using high-performance scientific code.
- Develop, refactor, test, and document production-quality simulation tools with modern software workflows and LLM-based assistants.
- Communicate modelling results and collaborate with physicists, numerical modellers, and engineers on stellarator design requirements.
- Validate and benchmark numerical models against theory and relevant experimental data.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in physics, mathematics, or computational physics.
- Experience building numerical tools from governing equations through formulation, implementation, and validated simulation results.
- Proficiency in one or more of Python, Julia, C++, or Fortran.
- Experience with modern software development workflows and high-performance computing.
- Ability to use LLM-based development tools while understanding their limitations and failure modes.
- Proactive problem framing and a collaborative approach to working with physicists, numerical modellers, and engineers.
