TL;DR
Software Engineer (Robotics) (C++/Rust/Python): Building production software for autonomous construction robots, including localization, control, path planning, and sensor-fusion systems with an accent on robotics algorithms and real-world deployment. Focus on designing control loops, implementing visual-inertial SLAM, debugging complex robotic systems, and taking projects from prototype to production.

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; onsite five days a week

Company

hirify.global develops robotics and software to automate on-site construction, building hardware and software systems in-house.

What you will do

  • Design and implement controls algorithms for autonomous construction robots, from early prototypes to production systems.
  • Develop localization algorithms such as visual-inertial SLAM and apply sensor fusion to determine robot position.
  • Build tools for debugging, analysis, and performance evaluation of robotics algorithms.
  • Write production-level code in C, C++, Rust, or Python and apply software engineering best practices.
  • Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and general debugging when systems fail.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from initial concept and prototype through completion.

Requirements

  • Experience implementing calibration, motion control, and path-planning algorithms for complex robotic systems.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of modelling, signal processing, motion planning, sensor fusion, and collision avoidance.
  • Industry experience building and deploying production systems in C, C++, Python, Rust, or comparable languages.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices, Git, unit testing, and automated deployment.
  • Basic familiarity with Linux systems and remote troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Systems Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Nice to have

  • Experience building prototypes in a zero-to-one environment.
  • Experience in top student engineering teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work alongside engineers, operators, and technicians on robotics and construction automation.
  • Work in an Amsterdam facility with an equipped workshop and robot testing floor.
  • Contribute to an early-stage company backed by a $32M Series B.
  • Internships are not currently supported.
