Senior Firmware Engineer (AI)

Location: Den Bosch, Netherlands; applicants should be within commuting distance. Hybrid work is available, with more days in the office than remotely.

Base salary: €60,000–€101,000 per year, plus eligibility for a long-term incentive award.

What you will do

• Build reliable, scalable, and updateable firmware for next-generation autonomous sports cameras.
• Develop low-level components that power the full device stack, from early prototypes to functioning products.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, application software engineers, and the system architect.
• Plan, design, and deliver complex firmware projects while providing technical leadership.
• Work autonomously within a squad to solve device and firmware problems.

Requirements

• Extensive embedded Linux experience, including board support package development with Yocto.
• Experience across the embedded Linux stack, from the kernel to user space.
• Strong C/C++ experience in user-space and BSP-level development, integration, and debugging.
• Knowledge of device-tree configuration and Linux kernel driver development, including patching and debugging vendor kernel trees.
• Familiarity with serial communication protocols including UART, I2C, and SPI.
• Regular in-office collaboration in Den Bosch is required, with more office days than remote days.

Nice to have

• Microcontroller programming experience with FreeRTOS or a similar RTOS.
• Fluency with AI coding tools and the ability to evaluate their output critically.
• Rust experience or exposure, as a large portion of the codebase uses Rust.
• Knowledge of PCIe, MIPI, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and other wired or wireless protocols.
• Camera development experience.
