Specialist, Control Technician (Automotive)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week onsite. Regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional business travel are required.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing all-electric and range-extended rugged SUVs and pickup trucks while building a new automotive company and manufacturing operation.

What you will do

• Support the Bodyshop Maintenance Team by writing, modifying, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC programs.
• Configure Siemens PLC hardware, I/O modules, communication interfaces, bus topologies, and external device integrations.
• Integrate PLCs with HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, drive systems, and other manufacturing controls.
• Diagnose and correct programming errors, communication failures, hardware malfunctions, and sensor or actuator discrepancies.
• Perform backups, firmware updates, upgrades, migrations, and preventive maintenance to improve system reliability and minimize downtime.
• Design and enhance control systems with cross-functional electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams while implementing safety functions and optimizing cycle times.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and Siemens TIA, with strong knowledge of production equipment and operations.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience setting up Siemens systems, bus topologies, interfaces to robots, drive systems, and SCADA systems.
• Ability to use the TIA Safety Tool, write complete PLC programs for new production cells, and optimize standard programming.
• Strong capability in root-cause investigation, complex error correction, cycle-time optimization, and stable production processes.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of VASS 6.
