VP Architect, AI & Platform

Location: Chicago (Green St), Illinois, United States

Salary: $217,236.65–$300,000 per year, plus equity and bonus and/or commission eligibility.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise-wide architecture strategy across cloud platforms, product domains, data platforms, APIs, integrations, and AI/ML systems.
• Guide the transition toward AI-native platforms, including predictive AI, computer vision, generative AI, agentic workflows, model orchestration, evaluation, observability, and governance.
• Lead architecture for data products, event streams, metadata, lineage, governance, data contracts, lakehouse and warehouse patterns, real-time decisioning, and analytics.
• Guide multi-tenant SaaS modernization, cloud infrastructure, service boundaries, event-driven systems, APIs, resilience, latency, cost efficiency, and operational maturity.
• Build an architecture operating model with practical governance, reusable patterns, reference implementations, decision records, and technical roadmaps.
• Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Infrastructure, and executive leadership on secure, explainable, auditable, privacy-aware, and resilient systems.

Requirements

• 15+ years of technology experience with significant leadership experience in SaaS, platform architecture, enterprise software, data-intensive systems, or AI-enabled products.
• Experience architecting large-scale, cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms for enterprise customers.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, APIs, microservices or modular monoliths, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and reliability engineering.
• Strong data architecture experience covering real-time data, analytics platforms, governance, metadata, data quality, and data products.
• Practical experience with AI/ML systems, model lifecycle management, MLOps/LLMOps, generative AI, evaluation, monitoring, responsible AI, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Ability to influence large engineering organizations and communicate architecture tradeoffs to executives, product leaders, engineers, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance, automotive, collision repair, fintech, healthcare, logistics, or another complex workflow-heavy industry.
• Experience with marketplaces, partner ecosystems, multi-party networks, computer vision, claims automation, document intelligence, decision automation, or workflow orchestration.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms while supporting large enterprise customers.
• Familiarity with AI governance, model risk management, privacy requirements, secure software development, regulated-industry expectations, and public-company technology operations.
