designs, manufactures, and operates smart weather balloons and uses their atmospheric data to improve weather intelligence and climate-related decision-making.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain low-level drivers and libraries for chips, modules, and atmospheric sensors.
- Own and improve the custom Amslah open-source RTOS hardware abstraction layer.
- Optimize custom sensor hardware and calibration infrastructure for low power consumption and extreme cold.
- Collaborate with hardware R&D engineers to improve meteorological measurement accuracy.
- Design fault-tolerant systems that recover gracefully from unexpected conditions.
- Debug complex issues across hardware and software.
Requirements
- Experience programming, shipping, and maintaining hardware in real-world settings.
- Fluent C/C++ and Python, with experience writing low-level drivers for multiple chips.
- Comfort reading PCB schematics and working across hardware and software boundaries.
- Ability to formulate hypotheses and run experiments to understand system behavior.
- Strong communication, reasoning, trade-off analysis, and debugging skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with FPGAs and HDL.
- Knowledge of RF systems and wireless protocols.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong undergraduate-level physics knowledge.
