Robotics Engineer: Government Projects

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; on-site. Travel to customer sites is required as needed.

Salary: $100,000–$175,000 per year, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Work with customers to understand manufacturing processes, requirements, and constraints, including measurements, CAD files, and documentation.
• Lead proof-of-concept projects and end-to-end design of robotic manufacturing cells, optimizing reachability, cycle time, and efficiency.
• Design and oversee custom end-of-arm tooling and work-holding fixtures from concept through testing.
• Configure GMR-AI software to generate optimized tool paths and trajectories for new applications.
• Prototype inspection sensors, tools, and processes, and evaluate emerging technologies with vendors.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain controls components while developing process recipes and documentation.

Requirements

• U.S. export-control eligibility is required: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
• Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience programming 6DOF robots and familiarity with motion control systems and robotics programming frameworks such as Robot Operating System.
• Business-competent programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Experience with 3D solid modeling, analysis, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Ability to solve technical problems independently and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree with a focus or specialization in robotics.
• Experience integrating and calibrating 3D vision systems, LiDAR, and inertial measurement units.
• Manufacturing experience in industrial automation, process development, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering.
• Experience programming 6DOF robots for surface finishing applications.
