Robotics Forward Deployed Engineer

Location: Watertown, MA, United States; on-site with approximately 30% travel to customer facilities.

What you will do

• Own a portfolio of customer sites running Tutor robots in production and act as the primary technical partner for operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
• Diagnose and resolve ambiguous issues across software configuration, mechanical adjustment, operational processes, and root causes.
• Build scripts, tooling, dashboards, and playbooks that automate recurring manual interventions.
• Track fleet uptime, reliability, throughput, and customer satisfaction, acting proactively on early performance signals.
• Partner with engineering by providing logs, reproduction conditions, likely root causes, and field validation for deeper product fixes.
• Translate customer and field insights into roadmap input and support expansion conversations with Account Executives.

Requirements

• 3–7+ years of experience in a technical, ideally customer-facing role such as applications or field engineering, robotics deployment, solutions engineering, or technical account management.
• Technical depth in robotics, industrial automation, controls, mechatronics, manufacturing systems, or warehouse and logistics technology.
• Hands-on ability to work with software and physical systems in operational environments, read logs and telemetry, reason about unfamiliar systems, and write automation scripts or tooling.
• Strong judgment in handling ambiguous, multi-factor problems, including deciding what to fix, automate, or escalate.
• Clear communication with customer engineering and operations teams as well as non-technical operators and leaders.
• Comfort working on factory and warehouse floors with early shifts, PPE, noise, and regular customer-site travel.
