Staff Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, United States. Candidates within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office must work in the office at least 3 days a week.

Salary: $180,000–$226,000 per year, plus eligible incentive programs and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and delivery of scalable, resilient, cloud-native platform infrastructure.
• Architect and develop Kubernetes-native and serverless systems using stateless services and Knative.
• Design and operate event-driven platforms with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Airflow, or equivalent technologies.
• Establish security, observability, monitoring, alerting, and SLO compliance across platform services.
• Own the CI/CD strategy and advance IaC principles, platform standards, runbooks, and documentation.
• Mentor engineers, influence partner teams, and provide technical leadership for cross-functional initiatives and complex escalations.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience in engineering, platform engineering, or SRE roles.
• Expert proficiency in Rust, C#, Python, Go, Java, or an equivalent language.
• Experience developing container-targeted applications with Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm, or App Engine.
• Production experience with GCP and/or AWS at scale, including services such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, VPC networking, and IAM.
• Experience with stateful databases and key-value datastores, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or equivalent technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to make architectural decisions, lead platform initiatives, communicate effectively, and drive operational improvements.

Nice to have

• Advanced Kubernetes experience, including scheduler optimization, ArgoCD GitOps, Kustomize, and security tooling.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, plus Ansible or comparable tools.
• Experience with container security scanning, policy enforcement, and software supply-chain tooling.
• Familiarity with React, Angular, or Vue.
• Experience with Google Cloud managed services and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or Cursor.
