Location: Hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in office in the Boston or New York City metro areas; applicants in the Research Triangle, NC, and San Francisco Bay Area may also be considered. Applicants must reside in these locations or be willing to relocate.
Compensation: $177,500–$232,000 annually, plus equity, comprehensive benefits, and perks.

What you will do
- Execute and contribute to preclinical pharmacology strategies across development programs, primarily through CROs.
- Design, oversee, and interpret studies covering mechanism of action, target biology, in vivo proof of concept, dose response, pharmacodynamic activity, and exposure-response relationships.
- Develop integrated plans covering efficacy, target engagement, receptor binding, selectivity, biomarkers, PK/PD, translational hypotheses, safety margins, therapeutic index, and dose rationale.
- Apply first-principles reasoning to evaluate biological rationale, test assumptions, and design decision-critical studies.
- Partner with DMPK, Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Development, Regulatory, CROs, and external partners.
- Manage CRO studies and workflows, including protocols, vendors, data quality, budgets, timelines, reports, modeling, analytics, literature mining, and AI-enabled tools.
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmacology, Biology, Immunology, Translational Sciences, or a related field.
- 4–6+ years of relevant post-PhD biopharma industry experience.
- Hands-on expertise in preclinical pharmacology, including mechanism of action, disease biology, in vivo efficacy models, dose response, target engagement, biomarkers, selectivity, and PK/PD.
- Experience designing, overseeing, and interpreting animal studies, including model selection, endpoints, dosing rationale, exposure-response relationships, and translational limitations.
- Experience developing pharmacology strategies for candidate selection, IND-enabling work, clinical development, lifecycle management, regulatory submissions, or externally sourced assets.
- Strong scientific judgment, communication, organization, collaboration, and cross-functional CRO study management skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with immunology, immune-mediated disease biology, or immunomodulatory mechanisms.
- Experience using technology, modeling, data analytics, and AI-enabled approaches in pharmacology research.
