Principal Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, United States; on-site at the Playa Vista office

Salary: $200,000–$260,000 annual base salary, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead GNC architecture, design, modeling, and analysis for spacecraft and missions including LEO, MEO, GEO, and RPOD.
• Design flight software, GNC algorithms, simulations, autonomy tools, and constellation-management capabilities.
• Select GNC components and design subsystems using IMUs, reaction wheels, star trackers, gyroscopes, and other hardware.
• Define fault detection and response, develop test processes, and execute hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Integrate flight and simulation software with analysis, test, and mission-operations tools.
• Plan schedules and milestones, report technical status, support design reviews, and collaborate with Systems, Avionics, Flight Software, Mission Operations, Ground Software, program leads, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
• 15+ years of industry experience in GNC/ADCS and 5+ years developing or operating spacecraft or satellites.
• Experience leading teams of three or more direct reports across a project lifecycle and managing multiple projects and priorities.
• Hands-on experience with GNC hardware, blended attitude solutions, flight software development and verification, on-orbit operations, and anomaly resolution.
• Experience interfacing directly with commercial or government aerospace customers and contributing to GNC business development or conceptual design.
• Experience with Jira planning and workflow.
